Fantasy WC – Friday 25th November

Round 2 of games kicked off today, with another 4 games played.

Just to clarify a query someone raised this morning over penalty misses. I used an old entry form in my rush to get this competition launched – which didn’t include penalty misses in the points scoring. Despite that, I am counting these – 5 points for a keeper saving a penalty and 3 points deducted from a player missing a penalty. There has been two missed penalties so far – Alphonso Davies and Robert Lewandowski, both had theirs saved (by Thibaut Courtois and Daizen Maeda, respectively).

Commentaries on today’s games are below, with an update table at the foot of this post. I’m on my footy night out tomorrow night so don’t be expecting an update tomorrow evening!!

WALES 0 IRAN 2
No-one had either of the Iranian goalscorers but Chris Mowles and Kevin Robinson get points from Mehdi Taremi’s assist. James Grierson, Gary Nelson and Lauren Haigh get a clean sheet from Ehsan Hajsaf, as does Jason Harrison from Milad Mohammadi. Ben Corrie and Shaun Sparkes lose points from Alireza Jahanbakhsh’s booking (and he is now suspended for their next game).

QATAR 0 SENEGAL 1
No-one had the scorer of Qatar’s 1st ever World Cup finals goal – Mohammed Muntari. Chris Mowles loses points from Homam Ahmed’s booking.
Nobody had either of the first two Senegalese goal scorers. Ben Corrie gets points from Bamba Dieng’s goal. Robin Horsler loses points from Pathé Ciss’s booking.

Ste Corbett and Albert Au gets points from Cody Gakpo’s 2nd goal of the tournament, Jason Harrison gets points from Davy Klaassen’s assist.
Martin Grierson and Steve Smith get points from Enner Valencia’s 3rd goal of the tournament.
