Fantasy League Cup – Round 13

The penultimate set of games took place in the Fantasy League Cup competition last weekend. The updated results and tables, along with the remaining fixtures, can be viewed here. A quick update on each of the table is below:

Group A
This group was between Shane Mageean, Melvin Pool and Jack Lockley to qualify – they were all on 21 points. Shane and Jack both won their games meaning they now sit 3 points clear of Melvin – all with 1 game to play. Crucially, Shane and Jack play each other in their last game – winner qualifies, a draw sees them both qualify. Melvin plays Philip Haigh. With the goal difference, Melvin needs to beat Philip and hope for a win for Shane.

Group B
Ant Donafee had already qualified. His win over Gregory Roberts sees him finish as group winner. Emma Carr’s win over Steve Smith saw her wrap up this group with a game to spare as she has confirmed 2nd place.

Group C
Peter Donnelly has already qualified but his loss to Jono Matthews means that James Ledger (after his win over Michael Agnew) can still mathematically catch him. Ewan Whites defeat to Lewis Donnelly means that James has also qualified. Peter and James play each other in the last game – James has to win by 33 points to  take top spot.

Group D
Martyn Dring and Lucas Wynne-James were both in very strong positions in this group – Michael Grierson needed a couple of miraculous results to nick a qualification place but his defeat to Ian O’Brien means Lucas (who won anyway) and Martyn both qualify. Martyn needs to  Ian and hope that Lucas loses to Paul Sparkes to take top spot.

Group E
Liam Donafee had already qualified. Ben Donafee is the only manager who could challenge Gisela Mowles for the other space – Gisela lost to Dianne Sparked but Ben lost the Donafee derby meaning Liam finishes as group winner and Gisela takes 2nd place.

Group F
Greg Tarka and Peter Wooldridge had already qualified. Greg’s defeat to Richie Gibbons means that Peter can finish as group winner if he beats Gerry Doherty in his last game.

Group G
Jed Donafee’s win over Paul Murphy confirms him as group winner. Daniel Chaderton’s win over Chris Mowles, combined with Gary Sharp’s defeat to David Hegarty puts him in pole position for 2nd place. Daniel has to beat Paul in his last game to take 2nd. David plays Jed and will be hoping Daniel slips up to take advantage. Gary can still nick 2nd place but needs to beat Chris and hope for defeats for Daniel and David.

Group H
This group was tight anyway but the latest results leaves Chris Newman, Emma Bisset and Graeme Tinker all level on 15 points!! Dan Worthington is a point behind on 14, with David Owen on 13 points. Chris and Emma face each other in the last game so a win should see one of them go through and the other one likely to go out. Graeme plays Ste Matthews with David and Dan playing each other. The only thing definite in this group is that Ste can’t qualify – all the other 5 can if results go their way!
