Super 6 Cup updates

The 2nd Round of the knockout cup took place over the weekend of the 14th January. 5 ties required a replay, which were played over the weekend of the 21st January. Three of the replays were settled outright – however, 2 of them were drawn. As per the rules – in the event of a drawn replay, the tie will be determined by the number of correct results, followed by the nearest guess to the Golden Goal.

Richard Gibbons and Michael Thomas both drew their replay 9 all, both getting one score correct and two outcomes correct. David Weston and Nikki Grice drew their replay 7 all and also had identical records Therefore we had a golden goal situation in both of these replays! Marcus Rashford scored the golden goal this week in the 17th minute: Richard predicted the 9th minute with Michael going with the 8th so Richard goes through. David predicted the 5th minute with Nikki predicting the 3rd so David progresses. Commiserations to Michael and Nikkie there! The 3rd Round will be played on the weekend of 4th February, with any replays the week later. Updated draw can be viewed here

The penultimate round of games took place in the League Cup competition. Updated tables, results and remaining fixtures can be viewed here. Last round of games is the weekend of 4th February.

GROUP A
Christopher Grierson’s win over Ste Matthews confirms him as group winner. Shaun Magee’s loss means that Matthew Saveall and Jordan Laite still have a chance – Shaun plays Matthew in the last game – winner takes all! Jordan plays Christopher needing to win and see a draw between the other 2.

GROUP B
Lauren Haigh’s win over Chris Brown confirms her as group winner. Albert Au could only draw against Nikki Grice but Stuart Davies’ defeat to David Weston sees Albert confirmed as 2nd.

GROUP C
Lisa Ormesher’s win over Peter Donnelly keeps her in pole position. Michael Grierson’s win over Tony Raybould keeps him in 2nd, while Martin Grierson’s win over David Hayhoe keeps him in with a chance. Michael plays David in the last game. Martin plays Lisa knowing a win will see him qualify.

GROUP D
Ross Milton had already qualified as he beat John Roberts. John never put an entry in this week which has now made his task of catching Richard Gibbons almost impossible. John needs to beat Debra Haigh in his last game and hope that Paul Grice beats Richard and also turn around a 16 point goal difference with these results!

GROUP E
Steve Smith missed an opportunity to draw level with Paul Murphy at the top of the table after his defeat to Lee Abbott. Michael Thomas’ defeat to Chris Newman also means that Paul has qualified without playing! Michael and Steve play each other in the last game – Michael has to win to take 2nd place away from Steve.

GROUP F
A very close group – only certainty is that Gary Nelson and Cameron Green can’t qualify! Cameron will be regretting not keying an entry this week as the defeat to Andrew Carter leaves Andrew on top, on goal difference. 2nd placed Melvin Pool plays Andrew in the last game, Paul Barlow plays Cameron – a win for Paul will see him qualify.

GROUP G
Trevor Faulkner’s defeat to Neil Metcalf means that there is nothing left to play for in this group other than who finishes top. Lynsey Harrison and Peter Carroll both sit on 15 points – with Lynsey having the better goal difference. Peter plays Neil while Lynsey plays Trevor in the final games.

GROUP H
David Nicholls had already qualified but is confirmed as group winner without even playing! Graham Healey and Peter Wooldridge face each other in the final game – Peter has a 2 point advantage so Graham has to win to swap places with Peter.
