I am always very apprehensive when Liverpool stand out as the “obvious” pick – surely not 
A new LMS record has been set with the number of picks – surpassing the 59 who picked Leicester to beat Fulham in 20/21 (and lost!!!)!!! I am quite surprised at there being 9 different teams picked in this round!
For those who don’t follow my blog, I added this post on Wednesday about an additional entry I had missed – the post shows evidence of the missing entry being submitted before the game deadline, in a WhatsApp chat. The pot now stands at £585, with 117 entries.
I have sent a chaser to a small number of players who haven’t coughed up yet – if you got that mail and haven’t responded, then please do so soon!

112 players are still standing for Round 2. Nine different teams have been picked in this round – two in the same game, so at least two players will drop out this round! Nobody could pick Luton Town or Burnley due to postponement – Wolves v Brighton is the only game not to have been touched!
There is Friday night action again to open up the round as Nottingham Forest play Sheffield United at the City Ground – 8 players have picked Forest.
On Saturday afternoon, Fulham face Brentford at the Cottage – Lewis Reilly and Lisa Mensah have picked the Cottagers while Olly Woodward and Owen Donnelly have picked Brentford, meaning at least two of them will exit at this stage. Liverpool welcome Bournemouth to Anfield – 71 players have picked the Reds to kick off their home campaign with a win – this is the highest ever pick in LMS!! In the tea-time game, Tottenham host Manchester United at the Tottenham Stadium – Andrew Emmett has picked Spurs. Later in the evening, Manchester City are playing Newcastle at the Etihad – Pauline Jackson has picked City.
On Sunday, Aston Villa will be looking to bounce back from their opening game beating as they face Everton at Villa Park – 16 players have picked Villa – no selection was submitted by Cameron Green and Reece Turner so they both get Villa by default. In the later game, West Ham have a London derby as Chelsea visit the London Stadium – Gary Storer has picked Chelsea.
We have to wait til Monday night to conclude this round as Crystal Palace host Arsenal at Selhurst Park – 10 players have picked the Gunners.
