Web Site LMS Rules LMS Hall of Fame

25th-27th November

73 players were still standing as we resumed Game 2, at Round 2, after the international break. A very tough set of fixtures to pick from – that saw twelve different teams picked, meaning we would have at least four casualties guaranteed.

On Saturday, in the lunchtime game, it was 1st v 2nd as Manchester City and Liverpool faced off at the Etihad – 10 players had picked City to come out on top but a 1-1 draw saw them drop out. In the 3pm games, Burnley hosted West Ham at Turfmoor – 22 players had picked the Hammers to win this battle of the clarets and blues – they looked like they were going to drop out but 2 late goals saw them through with a 2-1 win. Luton welcomed Crystal Palace to Kenilworth Road – 9 players were expecting an Eagles win but a 2-1 win for the Hatters saw them drop out. Newcastle welcomed Chelsea to St James’ Park – Paul Barlow had picked the Toon and he eased through with a 4-1 win. Nottingham Forest took on Brighton at the City Ground – Matthew Saveall and Tony Raybould had picked Forest while Martin Brown, Paul Giles, Shaun Magee and Ste Milton had picked the Seagulls – it was Matthew and Tony that exited after a 3-2 win for Brighton. Sheffield United faced Bournemouth at Bramhall Lane – Gary Storer had picked the Blades but he drops out after a 3-0 win for the Cherries. In the teatime game, a London derby as Brentford welcomed Arsenal to the Gtech Community Stadium – 10 players had picked the Gunners and they sneaked through with a late goal to finish 1-0.
On Sunday, Tottenham faced Aston Villa at the Tottenham stadium – 8 players had picked Spurs but they drop out after a 2-1 defeat. In the later game, Everton played Manchester United at Goodison Park – Damian Walsh and Matthew Kitching were hoping the Blues could claw back 3 of their 10 lost points but a 3-0 win sees them also exit.
Finally, on Monday night, Fulham played Wolves at Craven Cottage – Dave Goodall and Martin Grierson had picked the cottagers whilst Janet Carr and Martin McShane had picked Wolves and a late Fulham penalty sees Dave and Martin G progress with a 3-2 win.

In total, 34 players drop out – reflecting the thoughts of many how tough a round that was to pick from! 30 players are still standing  for Round 3 is noon on Friday 1st December. A full update can be viewed here.
