33 players were still standing at the end of the
2023/24 season. The rules stated that the pot should be shared by anyone still
standing. An option was put to the remaining 33 players whether they wanted to
take their share of the pot or carry this game on into the new season. 3 players
cashed out, leaving 30 players to continue in their quest for a reduced pot of
£932. As the new season kicks off, the remaining players couldn’t pick any
Manchester City players. They also couldn’t pick any of the relegated teams but
did have the options of Leicester, Ipswich and Southampton to pick from as
replacements. Four different teams were picked in this round – with just one
player having a chance of winning the pot in this round.
The new season kicks off on Friday evening as
Manchester United welcome Fulham to Old Trafford – a tough set of fixtures
(seeing as we have alread played seven rounds) sees twenty-two players putting
their faith in last season’s FA Cup winners.
On Saturday, in the lunchtime kick off, Liverpool make
a trip to Portman Road to take on newly-promoted Ipswich – Andrew Wilkinson,
Dave Brown, Gemma Jackson and Neil Metcalf are hoping that the Arne Slot era
starts with a win. In the 3pm games, Everton face Brighton as they start their
last season at Goodison Park – Kenny Rogers has picked the Toffees. Newcastle
also take on a newly promoted team as Southampton head upto St James’ Park – Dan
Milton, Dave Nicholls and Tony Smith have picked the Magpies.

12pm.
