3rd-5th December
The 3rd LMS game of the season sees 116 players taking part, hoping to win the prize pot of £580. Nine different teams have been picked in this opening round. Brentford v Newcastle is the only game that doesn’t feature.
Things kick off with a Saturday lunchtime derby as Everton welcome Liverpool for the last ever league derby at Goodison Park – Allan Jones, Dave Nicholls, Jack Smith, Paul Boddy and Paul Hallett are hoping the Reds make it a miserable experience for the Blues. In the 3pm games, Aston Villa play bottom of the table Southampton at Villa Park – 71 players have picked Villa (this equals the most picks in any round ever – Liverpool were picked 71 times when they played Bournemouth at Anfield in the 23/24 season). Crystal Palace host Manchester City at Selhurst Park – 9 players are hoping for a City win. In the teatime game, Manchester United face Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford – 8 players have picked United.
On Sunday, Fulham play Arsenal at Craven Cottage – 13 players have picked the Gunners. Ipswich take on Bournemouth at Portman Road – Martin Grierson has picked the Cherries. Leicester face Brighton at the King Power stadium – Ben Donafee, Gary Donely and Gemma Jackson have picked the Seagulls. The late Sunday game sees a London derby as Tottenham host Chelsea at the Tottenham stadium – David Hegarty has picked Chelsea.
On Monday night, West Ham play Wolves at the London stadium – Michael Grierson and Tony Smith have picked the Hammers.
