And then there were three! Just one team has been picked in this round – nobody could pick Arsenal, Aston Villa, Liverpool, Manchester City or Tottenham.

On Saturday, in the 3pm games, Bournemouth host Sheffield United at the Vitality Stadium – Hayley Beaton, Kenny Rogers and Robin Horsler have all picked the Cherries to beat the bottom of the table club! A reminder that should Sheffield United cause an upset of any sort then Rule 12 would be invoked – “Should less than five participants remain standing and all are eliminated in the same week then the prize pot will be equally shared among them.“.

There is FA Cup action next weekend and then an international break, so (if the game is still running) deadline for Round 10 is 12pm on FRIDAY 29th March (and Bournemouth now join the list of teams that can’t be selected!). I am away at the weekend so won’t be in a position to provide an update til Monday! A full update can be viewed here.

99 players joined in for Game 4 os the season, meaning a prize pot of £495. Eleven different teams were picked in this opening round – every game featured, meaning at least one player would drop out.

On Saturday, in the 3pm games, Brentford took on Chelsea at the Gtech Community stadium – Jenny Rothwell had picked the Bees, whilst Janet Carr had picked Chelsea – meaning one of them would go out. As it was, it finished 2-2 so they both drop out! Everton faced their old manager as West Ham visited Goodison Park – Dave Rogers, Eilish Doherty, Ian O’Brien and James Grierson had picked the Toffees but bow out after a 3-1 defeat. Fulham faced Brighton at Craven Cottage – Kenny Rogers had picked the Cottagers and he eased through with a 3-0 win. Newcastle United played Wolves at St James’ Park – Joey O’Brien, Kevin Robinson and Melvin Pool had picked the Magpies and also went through comfortably with a 3-0 win. Nottingham Forest welcomed the Carabao Cup winners to the City Ground – 6 players had picked Liverpool to win here and a 99th minute winner saw them through! Tottenham faced Crystal Palace at the Tottenham Stadium – 33 players had picked Spurs and they went through after they turned it round to win 3-1. In the teatime game, Luton played Aston Villa at Kenilworth Road – Carl Jackson Snr, Shaun Magee, Ste Milton and Ste Wilkinson had picked the Villa and another last minute winner saw them go through with a 3-2 win.
On Sunday, Burnley faced Bournemouth at Turfmoor – Olly Woodward and Ste Watson had picked the Cherries and they progressed with a 2-0 win. Later on, it was the Manchester Derby as City hosted United at the Etihad – David Hayhoe, Ewan White, Robin Horsler and Steve Rogers were hoping the blue half of the city would have the bragging rights and a 3-1 win saw to that!
Finally, on Monday night, Sheffield United had a visit from Arsenal to Bramhall Lane – 40 players had picked the Gunners – at the time of writing this up it’s 6-0 and I fancy an early night!

In total, 6 players drop out, leaving 93 players still standing for Round 2. I am away next weekend so the deadline for Round 2 will be 7pm on THURSDAY 7th March.  A full update can be viewed here.

LMS – Game 4 – New Game!!

Game 3 of this season is near complete – we are down to the last 4 players in that game now. One of Gemma Jackson, Hayley Beaton, Kenny Rogers and Robin Horsler will be taking (or sharing) the £540 pot!! That will be £1675 paid out in prize money this season.

It’s now time to look ahead and start Game 4! I will be kicking this new game off this coming weekend, 2nd March. There are 12 rounds of games left in the Premier League season – two of them will be impacted by FA cup quarter and semi finals, so it could end up being just 10 rounds, so this could be the last game of the season!!

Most of you should know the rules by now – but for those that haven’t played before you pay £5 entry fee and have to pick a team that you think will win their game in a given round of games – if they win, you progress to the next round (lose or draw and you are out!). You can’t pick the same team more than once – the last man standing takes the prize pot. A full set of rules can be viewed here, previous games and winners can be viewed here

Deadline for entering this new game is Friday 1st March at 7pm. Send your entry fee across and drop me an email with your pick for Round 1 before the deadline (details at the foot of this mail). Any queries, drop me a message. First 4 rounds of fixtures are below – you can plan ahead a bit more by checking the Premier League fixtures page. Feel free to share with anyone you think might be interested – more entries = a bigger pot!
