LMS – Game 2 – Round 4 Results

36 players were still standing for this midweek Round 4 of fixtures. Eight different teams were picked this week.

On Tuesday night, Wolves welcomed Burnley to Molineux – 7 players had picked Wolves and they go through with a 1-0 win. Luton had the tough task of a visit from league leaders Arsenal to Kenilworth Road – 6 players have picked the Gunners and they scrape through with a last minute winner in a 4-3 win.
Wednesday night saw Brighton playing Brentford at the Amex – Jack Horsler and Peter Carter had picked the Seagulls and they go through after a 2-1 win. Crystal Palace faced Bournemouth at Selhurst Park – Dave Goodall, Martin Grierson and Steve Watson had picked the Eagles and bow out after a 2-0 win to the Cherries. Fulham took on Nottingham Forest at Craven Cottage – David Hegarty, Graeme Tinker, Martin Brown, Ross Milton and Trevor Faulkner had picked Fulham and they eased through with a 5-0 win. Bottom of the table Sheffield United hosted Liverpool at Bramhall Lane – 10 players had picked the Reds and they go through after a 2-0 win. Aston Villa took on Manchester City at Villa Park – Gary Nelson was banking on City ending their run of draws, which they did but with a 1-0 defeat and he also exits.
This round concluded on Thursday with a London derby as Tottenham played West Ham at the Tottenham stadium – Jackie Milton and Jason Harrison had picked Spurs and they go out after a 2-1 defeat.

6 players drop out, leaving 30 players still standing. Round 5 follows on quickly from Round 4 – deadline is 3pm on FRIDAY 8th December (TODAY!!).  A full update can be viewed here.

36 players are still standing for this midweek Round 4 of fixtures. Eight different teams have been picked this week. Manchester United v Chelsea and Everton v Newcastle are the two games that have been avoided.

Super 6 Knockout Cup – Round 2 Replays

The 2nd Round of the Knockout Cup took place over the weekend 25th/26th November. Results and fixtures can be viewed here.

Two ties required a replay, which were played over the weekend of 2nd/3rd December:

* Lee Abbott goes through on the golden goal rule. He predicted the 8th minute, Steve predicted the 2nd minute. Bukayo Saka scored the golden goal in the 6th minute.

Round 3 will be played over the weekend of 16th December.

A reminder that a quick turnaround will be needed for the next two rounds!!
39 players were still standing as we hit December and Round 3. Six different teams were picked this week.

On Saturday, in the 3pm games, Arsenal were looking to consolidate their lead at the top of the table as they faced Wolves at the Emirates – Chris Mowles, Dave Brown and Paul Barlow had picked the Gunners and they go through after a 2-1 win. Brentford hosted Luton at the Gtech Community stadium – 14 players had picked the Bees and a 3-1 win sees them progress. Burnley faced Sheffield United at Bramhall Lane – Andrew Emmett had picked Burnley and his gamble well and truly paid off with a 5-0 win!
On Sunday, in the early games, Bournemouth took on an in form Aston Villa at the Vitality stadium – Dave Latham and Hayley Beaton had picked Villa but a 2-2 draw sees them bow out. Liverpool welcomed Fulham to Anfield – 18 players had picked the Reds and two late goals saw them squeeze through with a 4-3 win. The final game of the weekend saw Manchester City against Tottenham at the Etihad – Ritesh Mistry had picked City but a late Spurs equaliser to make it 3-3 puts him out.

Just three dropouts in this round – leaving 36 players still standing. Round 4 is a midweek set of games – deadline will be 5pm on TUESDAY 5th December. Round 5 will quickly follow with a usual Friday deadline – noon on FRIDAY 8th December, so be prepared to get submissions in – or feel free to submit your entries for Rounds 4 & 5 together. 39 players are still standing as we hit December and Round 3. Please note, Round 4 is a midweek set of games and will have a different deadline than normal should you get through this round! Six different teams have been picked this week.

On Saturday, in the 3pm games, league leaders Arsenal will be looking to consolidate that lead as they face Wolves at the Emirates – Chris Mowles, Dave Brown and Paul Barlow have picked the Gunners. Brentford host Luton at the Gtech Community stadium – 14 players have picked the Bees. Burnley face Sheffield United at Bramhall Lane – Andrew Emmett becomes the first player in this game to pick Burnley (leaving Bournemouth, Chelsea and Luton as the only teams not picked yet in Game 2).

LMS – Game 2 – Round 2 Results

25th-27th November

73 players were still standing as we resumed Game 2, at Round 2, after the international break. A very tough set of fixtures to pick from – that saw twelve different teams picked, meaning we would have at least four casualties guaranteed.

On Saturday, in the lunchtime game, it was 1st v 2nd as Manchester City and Liverpool faced off at the Etihad – 10 players had picked City to come out on top but a 1-1 draw saw them drop out. In the 3pm games, Burnley hosted West Ham at Turfmoor – 22 players had picked the Hammers to win this battle of the clarets and blues – they looked like they were going to drop out but 2 late goals saw them through with a 2-1 win. Luton welcomed Crystal Palace to Kenilworth Road – 9 players were expecting an Eagles win but a 2-1 win for the Hatters saw them drop out. Newcastle welcomed Chelsea to St James’ Park – Paul Barlow had picked the Toon and he eased through with a 4-1 win. Nottingham Forest took on Brighton at the City Ground – Matthew Saveall and Tony Raybould had picked Forest while Martin Brown, Paul Giles, Shaun Magee and Ste Milton had picked the Seagulls – it was Matthew and Tony that exited after a 3-2 win for Brighton. Sheffield United faced Bournemouth at Bramhall Lane – Gary Storer had picked the Blades but he drops out after a 3-0 win for the Cherries. In the teatime game, a London derby as Brentford welcomed Arsenal to the Gtech Community Stadium – 10 players had picked the Gunners and they sneaked through with a late goal to finish 1-0.
On Sunday, Tottenham faced Aston Villa at the Tottenham stadium – 8 players had picked Spurs but they drop out after a 2-1 defeat. In the later game, Everton played Manchester United at Goodison Park – Damian Walsh and Matthew Kitching were hoping the Blues could claw back 3 of their 10 lost points but a 3-0 win sees them also exit.
Finally, on Monday night, Fulham played Wolves at Craven Cottage – Dave Goodall and Martin Grierson had picked the cottagers whilst Janet Carr and Martin McShane had picked Wolves and a late Fulham penalty sees Dave and Martin G progress with a 3-2 win.

In total, 34 players drop out – reflecting the thoughts of many how tough a round that was to pick from! 30 players are still standing  for Round 3 is noon on Friday 1st December. A full update can be viewed here.
