LMS – Game 2 – Round 2

Web Site LMS Rules LMS Hall of Fame

25th-27th November

73 players are still standing as we resume Game 2, at Round 2, after the international break. A lot of people commented when sending their selections in that this was a tough set of fixtures to pick from – that is reflected in the fact that twelve different teams have been picked this week. I doubt there has been a tougher set of fixtures to choose from – especially for an early round!! Every game features in this round – with two fixtures having players up against each other, we are guaranteed at least four casualties but I will be amazed if they are the only ones!!

On Saturday, in the lunchtime game, it’s 1st v 2nd as Manchester City and Liverpool face off at the Etihad – 10 players have picked City to come out on top. In the 3pm games, Burnley host West Ham at Turfmoor – 22 players have picked the Hammers to win this battle of the clarets and blues. Luton welcome Crystal Palace to Kenilworth Road – 9 players are expecting an Eagles win. Newcastle welcome Chelsea to St James’ Park – Paul Barlow has picked the Toon. Nottingham Forest take on Brighton at the City Ground – Matthew Saveall and Tony Raybould have picked Forest while Martin Brown, Paul Giles, Shaun Magee and Ste Milton have picked the Seagulls. Sheffield United face Bournemouth at Bramhall Lane – Gary Storer has picked the Blades. In the teatime game, a London derby as Brentford welcome Arsenal to the Gtech Community Stadium – 9 players have picked the Gunners.
On Sunday, Tottenham face Aston Villa at the Tottenham stadium – 8 players have picked Spurs. In the later game, Manchester United will face the wrath of the Goodison Park faithful as they play Everton – Damian Walsh and Matthew Kitching are hoping the Blues can claw back 3 of their 10 lost points.
On Monday night, Fulham play Wolves at Craven Cottage – Dave Goodall and Martin Grierson have picked the cottagers whilst Janet Carr and Martin McShane have picked Wolves.

Deadline for Round 3 is noon on Friday 1st December. A full update can be viewed here.

LMS – NEW GAME!!!

Game 1 of this season is now concluded – congratulations to John Roberts, who has just won £585, courtesy of Liverpool’s failure to beat Luton!!

It’s now time to look ahead and start Game 2! I will be kicking this new game off this coming weekend, 11th November.

You can’t pick the same team more than once – the last man standing takes the prize pot. A full set of rules can be viewed here, previous games and winners can be viewed here

I am away this weekend, so deadline for entering this new game is Friday 10th November at 11am.Send your entry fee across and drop me an email with your pick for Round 1 before the deadline (details at the foot of this mail). LMS – Game 1 – Winner!!

4th-6th November

Just 6 players were still standing as we hit Round 11. Nobody could pick Aston Villa, Chelsea, Manchester City or Tottenham – three different teams were picked this week.

On Saturday, in the 3pm games, Brentford took on West Ham at the Gtech Community stadium – John Roberts had picked the Bees and he went through with a 3-2 win. Sheffield United faced Wolves at Bramhall Lane – Lauren Haigh, Michael Thomas and Ross Milton had picked Wolves to come out on top here but a 2-1 win for the Blades saw them crash out.
On Sunday, Luton Town welcomed Liverpool to Kenilworth Road – Ralph Dealing and Andrew Emmett had picked the Reds – with John Roberts (ironically a Liverpool fan) praying for a slip up! A 1-1 draw means that Ralph and Andrew drop out – leaving John as the Last Man Standing and he gets a £585 pot!! Congratulations to John and commisserations to the other 5 who made it this far!

Game 2 will commence next weekend – details to be sent in a separate mail!

John Roberts is the only player with a chance of winning the pot in this round – good luck to all 6 players! A reminder that once we have 5 or less players still standing then we have a guaranteed winner. If all 6 players were to fall out then the prize pot would roll over to the next game. Either way, it looks like the start of Game 2 will be pretty imminent!

Deadline for Round 12 is noon on Friday 10th November.
