LMS – Game 1 – Round 8 Results

7th-8th October

26 players were still standing for Round 8 – the last one before another international break. Six different teams were picked this week (one of them by default).

The Saturday lunchtime game kicked off the action in this round as Tottenham welcomed Luton to the Tottenham Stadium – six players were hoping Spurs could manage to win this without VAR cock-ups and a 1-0 (with 10 men) saw them through. In the 3pm games, Everton hosted Bournemouth at Goodison Park – Andrew Emmett, Craig Milton, Dave Rogers and Michael Thomas were hoping that the Blues could bounce back from last week’s defeat and they certainly did with a 3-0 win. Fulham played Sheffield United at Craven Cottage – seven players had picked the Cottagers and they progress with a 3-1 win. Manchester United took on Brentford at Old Trafford – Andrew Carter, Becci Morton, Gerry Doherty, Paul Hallet and Stuart Davies had picked United and were heading out until Scott McTominay scored 2 injury time goals to win 2-1. In the tea-time game, Crystal Palace faced Nottingham Forest at Selhurst Park – Adam Dealing and Paul Maiden had picked the Eagles but a goalless draw sees them drop out.
On Sunday, there was a Midlands Derby as Wolves entertained Aston Villa at Molineux – Pauline Jackson had picked Villa to triumph, no selection was submitted from Dave Hegarty so he got Villa by default but a 1-1 draw meant they dropped out.

In total, 4 players drop out, leaving 22 players still standing. There is an international break next week. Deadline for Round 9 is noon on Friday 20th October.
