LMS – Game 1 – Round 2 Results

Round 2 completed. A couple of fallers but not as drastic as we are usually accustomed to! A PDF update can be viewed here.

112 players were still standing for Round 2. Nine different teams had been picked in this round – two in the same game, so at least two players would drop out in this round! Nobody could pick Luton Town or Burnley due to postponement – Wolves v Brighton was the only game not to have been played!
There was Friday night action to open up the round as Nottingham Forest played Sheffield United at the City Ground – 8 players had picked Forest and they go through courtesy of an 89th minute winner as Forest won 2-1.
On Saturday afternoon, Fulham faced Brentford at the Cottage – Lewis Reilly and Lisa Mensah had picked the Cottagers while Olly Woodward and Owen Donnelly had picked Brentford, meaning at least two of them would exit at this stage – a 3-0 win for the Bees saw Lewis and Lisa drop out. Liverpool welcomed Bournemouth to Anfield – 71 players had picked the Reds to kick off their home campaign with a win and despite going a goal down and ending up with 10 men, a 3-1 win saw them through. In the tea-time game, Tottenham hosted Manchester United at the Tottenham Stadium – Andrew Emmett had picked Spurs and he progressed after a 2-0 win. Later in the evening, Manchester City were playing Newcastle at the Etihad – Pauline Jackson had picked City and she went through after a 1-0 win.
On Sunday, Aston Villa were looking to bounce back from their opening game beating as they faced Everton at Villa Park – 16 players had picked Villa – no selection was submitted by Cameron Green and Reece Turner so they both got Villa by default – they all go through after a 4-0 win for Villa. In the later game, West Ham had a London derby as Chelsea visited the London Stadium – Gary Storer had picked Chelsea and he exits after a 3-1 win to the Hammers.
We had to wait til Monday night to conclude this round as Crystal Palace hosted Arsenal at Selhurst Park – 10 players had picked the Gunners and a 1-0 win saw them through.

Just three players drop out in Round 2 – 109 still standing. Deadline for Round 3 is noon on Friday 25th August.

LMS – Game 1 – Round 2

All selections for Round 2 are in, ahead of the deadline.

I am always very apprehensive when Liverpool stand out as the “obvious” pick – surely not 🙈 A new LMS record has been set with the number of picks – surpassing the 59 who picked Leicester to beat Fulham in 20/21 (and lost!!!)!!! I am quite surprised at there being 9 different teams picked in this round!

For those who don’t follow my blog, I added this post on Wednesday about an additional entry I had missed – the post shows evidence of the missing entry being submitted before the game deadline, in a WhatsApp chat. The pot now stands at £585, with 117 entries.

I have sent a chaser to a small number of players who haven’t coughed up yet – if you got that mail and haven’t responded, then please do so soon!

Good luck to everyone – next update after this round is completed! A full update can be viewed here.

112 players are still standing for Round 2. Nine different teams have been picked in this round – two in the same game, so at least two players will drop out this round! Nobody could pick Luton Town or Burnley due to postponement – Wolves v Brighton is the only game not to have been touched!
There is Friday night action again to open up the round as Nottingham Forest play Sheffield United at the City Ground – 8 players have picked Forest.
On Saturday afternoon, Fulham face Brentford at the Cottage – Lewis Reilly and Lisa Mensah have picked the Cottagers while Olly Woodward and Owen Donnelly have picked Brentford, meaning at least two of them will exit at this stage. Liverpool welcome Bournemouth to Anfield – 71 players have picked the Reds to kick off their home campaign with a win – this is the highest ever pick in LMS!! In the tea-time game, Tottenham host Manchester United at the Tottenham Stadium – Andrew Emmett has picked Spurs. Later in the evening, Manchester City are playing Newcastle at the Etihad – Pauline Jackson has picked City.
On Sunday, Aston Villa will be looking to bounce back from their opening game beating as they face Everton at Villa Park – 16 players have picked Villa – no selection was submitted by Cameron Green and Reece Turner so they both get Villa by default. LMS – Game 1 – additional entry

One more entry to be added that I missed from a WhatsApp chat last Friday. My son told me his pick for round 2 yesterday, along with his friend’s pick. It then came to light that I had missed this entry in a series of WhatsApp exchanges – seeing as it was my fault I am adding him into the game.
Lewis Reilly – he picked Brighton for round 1, as evidenced by the screenshot.

LMS – Game 1 – Round 1 Results

A full update can be viewed here.

116 players opted to join in for this opening game of the season, meaning a prize pot of £580. Ten different teams had been picked in this opening round of fixtures – with at least one player guaranteed to exit in this round.

The season kicked off with a Friday night game, as last season’s champions Manchester City headed to Turfmoor to take on last season’s Championship champions Burnley – 10 players progress as City won 3-0. On Saturday, in the lunchtime game, last season’s runners-up Arsenal welcomed Nottingham Forest to the Emirates – 37 players had picked the Gunners and go through after a 2-1 win. In the 3pm games, Bournemouth faced West Ham at the Vitality stadium – Rich Clayton had picked the Cherries but exits after a 1-1 draw. Brighton welcomed newly promoted Luton to the Amex – 39 players had picked the Seagulls and they ease through after a 4-1 win. Everton faced Fulham at Goodison Park – David Grice and Jenny Rothwell had picked the Toffees but a 1-0 win for the Cottagers sees them bow out. Sheffield United started their Premier League adventure with a visit from Crystal Palace to Bramhall Lane – Eilish Doherty had picked the Blades while Linda Smith, Michael Grierson and Olly Woodward had picked the Eagles a 1-0 win for Palace seed Eilish drop out. Newcastle hosted Aston Villa at St James’ Park – Adele Ward, Dave Goodall, Jack Horsler and Kevin Robinson had picked the Magpies and they ease through after a 5-1 win. On Sunday, in the early kick off, Brentford welcomed Tottenham to the Gtech Community stadium – Shea Prendergast had picked Spurs but exits after a 2-2 draw. On Monday night, Manchester United faced Wolves at Old Trafford in the final game of the opening round of fixtures – 18 players had picked United and they go through after a 1-0 win.

In total, 5 players fell at the first attempt – leaving 111 players still standing for Round 2.

Deadline for Round 2 is noon on Friday 18th August. Luton or Burnley cannot be picked due to the game being postponed, due to Luton’s ground not being ready.

Super 6 Update

A quick update on the Super 6 league. There are 49 players listed below, still waiting on a couple of payments and I suspect (especially as 4 of them did not input any predictions for Round 1) that a few of these may not intend playing this season. If you aren’t intending to stay in the league can you drop me a message so I can get numbers confirmed? If you haven’t paid yet can you do so soon please  – £10 (payment details at the foot of this post)?

Ste Corbett is the opening leader with 19 points (it was only his beloved Everton that stopped him predicting all 6 outcomes correctly!!).

I know some people forget – I strongly recommend you set a reminder on your phones (mine is set for a Thursday night to remind me to do my predictions and check my fantasy footy team)!

Deadline for Round 2 is 3pm on Saturday.

Fantasy Footy is up and running!

The Premier League deadline on the competition closed at 6.30pm.

The To Be Confirmed league (if anyone wants to give it a proper name then feel free to drop me your suggestion!) is currently showing 55 managers – which is one more than last season (and includes 10 managers who didn’t play in last season’s competition!). I need to finalise those numbers as some of you may have renewed your team but don’t intend to play in the league. If this is the case can you drop me an email please to confirm? I’ve had the majority of payments in but if you haven’t paid yet, can you please do so at your earliest convenience. Payment details at the foot of this mail as a reminder (£10). I will sort the League Cup draw out in a couple of weeks, once numbers and payments have been confirmed. I will be seeding the competition based on league positions at a given point in time – this will be in the style of the Champions League with teams grouped (based on seedings) with group winners and runners-up progressing to the knockout stage. Last season’s competition can be viewed here.

The big news of this season is that last season’s treble winner, Peter Wooldridge, has decided that he can’t do better than that and has retired from the competition (why can’t Manchester City have done the same?!).

Good luck everyone – the first game kicks off in an hour or so!

Super 6 is now open!

I will be running this again in conjunction with the Sky Super 6 competition. As per the past couple of seasons, it’s a £10 entry fee. There will be a league competition along with two cup competitions – one in the style of the Champions League (with a group stage) and the other a straight knockout competition. Details of last season’s competitions can be viewed here.
Send your entry fee across and make sure you join up into the league before the deadline (payment details at the foot of this post). Sky have relaunched the Super 6 competition for the season today. You can join the league by clicking this link or use league code ATDUTM. Any queries, drop me a message.
