Fantasy Football – New Season!

I will be running this again in conjunction with the official

Premier League competition. As per the past couple of seasons, it’s a £10 entry fee. There will be a league competition along with two cup competitions – one in the style of the Champions League (with a group stage) and the other a straight knockout competition (this will be administered by the Premier League

site towards the end of the season). Details of last season’s competitions can be viewed

here.Send your entry fee across and make sure you join up into the league before the deadline (payment details at the foot of this post). The league code is 61krdq. Any queries, drop me a message.

LMS – New Season, New Game!

This will be the eighth season I have been running this competition. The past 7 seasons have seen 34 games played with a total of £11,765 paid out in prize money. For those that haven’t played before you pay £5 entry fee and have to pick a team that you think will win their game in a given round of games – if they win, you progress to the next round (lose or draw and you are out!). You can’t pick the same team more than once – the last man standing takes the prize pot. A full set of rules can be viewed here, previous games and winners can be viewed here. Deadline for entering the opening game is Friday 11th August at 7pm.
Send your entry fee across and drop me an email with your pick for Round 1 before the deadline (details at the foot of this post). Any queries, drop me a message. The first four rounds of fixtures are below – you can plan ahead a bit more by checking the Premier League fixtures page.

LMS – Game 4 – Round 9 Results

We were down to the last four players for Round 9. Three different teams were picked in this round. The first game of this round was the Saturday lunch time game as Tottenham took on Brentford at the Tottenham stadium – Sean Woodward had picked Spurs, but despite them going a goal ahead, he exits after a 3-1 defeat. On Sunday afternoon, West Ham welcomed Leeds to the London stadium – Graeme Tinker had picked the Hammers and he would have been relieved as they came from a goal down to win 2-1. Brighton had a south coast derby against already relegated Southampton at the Amex – James Grierson and Stuart Davies had picked the Seagulls and they both go through to after a 3-1 win.

That leaves just three players standing for the final round of the season. Deadline for Round 10 is noon on FRIDAY 26th May. A reminder that the pot must be won by the end of the season – if more than one player is still standing after Round 10 then the pot will be shared. Nobody can pick Arsenal, Brighton, Liverpool, either Manchester club, Nottingham Forest or Newcastle.

LMS – Game 4 – Round 9

We are down to the last four players for Round 9. Three different teams have been picked in this round. Nobody could pick Arsenal, Liverpool, either Manchester club, Nottingham Forest or Newcastle. A full update can be viewed here. The first game of this round is the Saturday lunch time game as Tottenham take on Brentford at the Tottenham stadium – Sean Woodward has picked Spurs. On Sunday afternoon, West Ham will be in jubilant mood after reaching the Europa Conference League final as they welcome Leeds to the London stadium – Graeme Tinker has picked the Hammers. Brighton have a south coast derby against already relegated Southampton at the Amex – James Grierson and Stuart Davies were the only players left who could pick Brighton – and they both have! Sean and Graeme both have a chance to win the pot outright in this round. Good luck to all four players!
Assuming we get through this round, deadline for Round 10 (which is the final round of the season) is noon on FRIDAY 26th May. A reminder that the pot must be won by the end of the season – if more than one player is still standing when the season is complete then the pot will be shared.

Super 6 Knockout Cup Final

The final of the knockout cup was played over the weekend of 13th May. It was contested by Christopher Grierson and David Weston.

Christopher got off to a good start by correctly predicting a 2-0 win for Manchester United over Wolves – David had forecast 3-0. David then took the lead as he got Villa to beat Spurs 2-1 bang on – Christopher had a 1-1 draw. They both said Chelsea would beat Forest but a draw meant neither got a point. Christopher then made sure they were level pegging as he got 2 points for his forecast of Fulham to beat Southampton 2-0 – David had tipped a draw (it finished 2-1).

On Sunday, David had tipped Everton to get beat 2-1 by City but unfortunately for him, Christopher got it correct with 3-0. Neither of them foresaw a Brighton win over Arsenal so Christopher wins the final 12-9. Commiserations (and £20) to David. Congratulations (and £60) to Christopher who now waits to see if he can make it a cup double this coming weekend, 20th May.

All prizes will be paid at the end of the season. The full tournament can be viewed here.
