LMS – New game to start!

The results at the weekend means that Game 3 of LMS is now down to just two players, so the prize pot of £455 is now guaranteed to be won. Therefore, it’s time to launch Game 4 – which (with just 10 full rounds of games left to play) will be the final game of this season. There is a gap now until the first round of games due to the FA Cup quarter finals this coming weekend, followed by an international break. First four rounds of games detailed at the foot of this mail. I will send a reminder the week before the competition starts.

For those that haven’t played before – you need to pick a team that you think will win their game that weekend – they win and you go through to the next round: draw or lose and you are out. Rinse and repeat for subsequent rounds until the last person is standing and takes the prize pot – you can’t pick the same team twice. Full rules can be viewed here, previous games can be viewed in the Hall of Fame. Current game can be viewed here to give you an idea how it works. Feel free to share with anyone you think might be interested – more entries = a bigger prize pot! £1485 will have been paid out this season when Game 3 concludes.

Entry remains £5 and you must send me an email (martin.grierson@gmail.com) by 7pm on Friday 31st March with your selection for Round 1. First four sets of fixtures below, to let you plan ahead (you only need to let me know Round 1 to start with though!). Make a note that Round 4 will include 2 postponed games due to the FA Cup semi finals. Payment details have not changed – payments to Martin Grierson @ Sort Code:126050 Account Number:03697698 or alternatively, you can pay by Paypal to martin.grierson@gmail.com (use friends and family option to avoid fee).

LMS – Game 3 – Round 6 Results

We were still at the last six players standing after they all made it through Round 5!! Three different teams were picked in this round.

The Saturday early kick off saw Bournemouth hosting Liverpool at the Vitality stadium – Dave Goodall, Gary Storer and Ste Wilkinson had picked the Reds but, in typical Liverpool fashion, a 1-0 win for Bournemouth sees them three drop out! In the 3pm games, Tottenham welcomed Nottingham Forest to the Tottenham stadium – Lauren Haigh and Trevor Faulkner had picked Spurs and they ease through with a 3-1 win. On Sunday afternoon, Manchester United faced Southampton at Old Trafford – Matthew Kitching had picked United but a goalless draw sees him drop out.

Down to the last two players now, which means that this game will now be won outright or shared. It also means that I can start Game 4 of the season – with 10 rounds of games left in the season, this will be the final game of the season. I’ll send a separate update out for that.

Selections are below – a full update can be viewed here.

The planned Round 7, for the weekend of 18th March, is now skipped, due to the FA Cup Quarter Finals and three postponed games. There is then an international break on the weekend of 25th March. Deadline for Round 7 is noon on FRIDAY 31st March.

Round 6

LMS – Game 3 – Round 6

We are still at the last six players standing after they all made it through Round 5!! Three different teams have been picked in this round – one player has a chance to take the pot outright in this round. Nobody could pick Arsenal or Manchester City.

The Saturday early kick off sees Bournemouth hosting Liverpool at the Vitality stadium – Dave Goodall, Gary Storer and Ste Wilkinson have picked the Reds to continue their recent good form. In the 3pm games, Manchester United will be trying to shake off the memories of last week’s 7-0 trouncing (had to get that mentioned!) as they face Southampton at Old Trafford – Matthew Kitching has picked United, giving him an opportunity to win the pot in this round. Tottenham will be looking to bounce back from their Champions League exit as they welcome Nottingham Forest to the Tottenham stadium – Lauren Haigh and Trevor Faulkner have picked Spurs.

Super 6 Cup Competitions

Been busy and almost forgot that we had Super 6 cup competition action last weekend!

Knockout Cup

The quarter finals of the competition were played over the weekend of 4th March. All ties were settled at the first attempt. The results, and the draw for the semi finals, can be viewed here. The semi finals will be played over the weekend of 8th April, with any replays (if required) over the weekend of 15th April.

League Cup
With the group stages out of the way, it was time for the knockout stage to kick off. The Round of 16 was played over the weekend of 4th March. Three of the ties (featured below) require a replay – which will be played this coming weekend, 11th March. The results and draw for the Quarter Finals (to be played on the weekend of 1st April) can be viewed here.

The planned Round 7, for the weekend of 18th March, is almost certain to be skipped as three fixtures are now postponed, due to the FA Cup Quarter Finals – Brighton v Manchester United, Liverpool v Fulham and Manchester City v West Ham. I will keep an eye on fixtures – if at least one of these games get to be played in a midweek either side of that weekend then I will keep that round in place. However, it looks highly unlikely as Liverpool and the two Manchester clubs play in Europe the midweek before and there is an international break after the fixtures on the weekend of 18th March.
