LMS – Game 2 – Round 3 Results

2nd-4th November

41 players were still standing for Round 3. Nine different teams were picked in this round – the only game not picked was the United v Chelsea game (which was proven to be a wise decision!).

On Saturday, in the lunchtime game, Newcastle entertained Arsenal at St James’ Park – Janet Carr had picked the Gunners. No entry was received from Ste Matthews, so he got Arsenal by default – a 1-0 defeat sees Janet and Ste drop out. In the 3pm kick-offs, Bournemouth hosted Manchester City at the Vitality Stadium – Allan Jones, Dave Phillips, Dave Rogers, Jason Harrison, and John Lamming had picked City but they bow out after a 2-1 defeat. Ipswich were still looking for their first win of the season as they played Leicester at Portman Road – John Roberts had picked Ipswich and they nearly got that 1st win but a late equaiser sees him drop out after a 1-1 draw. Liverpool faced Brighton at Anfield – 20 players were hoping that the Reds could get a second win in a week over the Seagulls and they were rewarded with a 2-1 win. Nottingham Forest took on West Ham at the City Ground – 6 players had picked Nottingham Forest and they ease through with a 3-0 win. Southampton played Everton at St Mary’s – Michael Grierson had picked the Toffees but he exits after a 1-0 defeat. In the teatime game, Wolves welcomed Crystal Palace to Molineux – Alex Ramsden and Craig Milton had picked Wolves but a 2-2 draw sees them also drop out.
On Sunday, Tottenham faced Aston Villa at the Tottenham Stadium – Andrew Wilkinson had picked Spurs and he goes through after a 4-1 win.
On Monday night, Fulham welcomed Brentford to Craven Cottage – Ben Donafee, Gisela Mowles, and Paul Murphy had picked Fulham and they scrape through after two injury time goals as the Cottagers won 2-1.

In total, 11 players dropped out in this round, leaving 30 players still standing. Deadline for Round 4 is Friday 8th November at noon. A full update can be viewed here.

LMS – Game 2 – Round 3

2nd-4th November

41 players are still standing for Round 3 – we have lost over half of the original amount of entrants after just 2 rounds! Nine different teams have been picked in this round – tough set of fixtures to pick from this week, I wasn’t expecting such a diverse selection of picks (although I think a number of Liverpool fans – myself included – are trying not to jinx them)! The only game not picked is the United v Chelsea – I thought someone would have been attracted to the “new manager bounce”.

On Saturday, in the lunchtime game, Newcastle entertain Arsenal at St James’ Park – Janet Carr has picked the Gunners.  No entry was received from Ste Matthews, so he gets Arsenal by default. In the 3pm kick-offs, Bournemouth host Manchester City at the Vitality stadium – Allan Jones, Dave Phillips, Dave Rogers, Jason Harrison and John Lamming have picked the league leaders. Ipswich are still looking for their first win of the season as they play Leicester at Portman Road – John Roberts has picked Ipswich. Liverpool face Brighton at Anfield – 20 players are hoping that the Reds can get a 2nd win in a week over the Seagulls. Nottingham Forest take on West Ham at the City Ground – 6 players have picked Nottingham Forest. Southampton play Everton at St Mary’s – Michael Grierson has picked the Toffees. In the teatime game, Wolves welcome Crystal Palace to Molineux – Alex Ramsden and Craig Milton have picked Wolves.
On Sunday, Tottenham face Aston Villa at the Tottenham stadium – Andrew Wilkinson has picked Spurs.
On Monday night, Fulham welcome Brentford to Craven Cottage – Ben Donafee, Gisela Mowles and Paul Murphy have picked Fulham.

Deadline for Round 4 is Friday 8th November at noon. A full update can be viewed here.

The 3rd Round of games in the League Cup took place last weekend – two players (Shaun Mcgee and Gary Nelson) will be kicking themselves that they put no entries in last weekend, in games against important opponents!! Updated results and tables can be viewed here. 4th round of games will be played this coming weekend (2nd November).

ROUND 9
25th-27th October

What an extraordinary injury time in today’s games! Four players remained standing for Round 9. Two different teams had been picked in this round.

On Saturday, in the 3pm games, Brighton welcomed Wolves to the Amex – Abi Donafee, Carl Jackson and Michael Grierson had picked the Seagulls and they must have been sickened when (after leading 2-0) Wolves scored a 93rd minute equaliser, to make it 2-2. Aston Villa faced Bournemouth at Villa Park – Adam Dealing was the only player left who could pick Villa and he picked them – it looked like Adam was about to win the pot but a 96th minute equaliser saw him also drop out after a 1-1 draw.

This game is now complete. As per rule 12, the pot is shared – so each player has a consolation of £150 each. Well done to the four of them.. A full update can be viewed here.

There’s a Friday night game in this round as Leicester have a Midlands clash with Nottingham Forest at the King Power stadium – Anthony Donafee has picked the Foxes.

Brentford welcome bottom of the table Ipswich Town to the Gtech stadium – 30 players have picked the Bees (nearly half the players left!!). Brighton play Wolves at the Amex stadium – 14 players have picked the Seagulls. Manchester City face Southampton at the Etihad – 8 players have picked City.
On Sunday, Chelsea face Newcastle at Stamford Bridge – David Hegarty, Jason Harrison and Lisa Mensah have picked the Londoners. Crystal Palace have a London derby as Tottenham visit Selhurst Park – Damian Walsh, Gemma Jackson, Hayley Beaton and Marie Robinson have picked Spurs. Web SiteLMS RulesHall of Fame

Game 2 kicked off with 110 players – meaning a prize pot of £550. Ten different teams were picked in this opening round – two of them in the same game. Southampton v Leicester was the only game not to feature.

On Saturday, in the lunchtime game, Tottenham faced West Ham in a London derby at the Tottenham stadium – 28 players had picked Spurs and they eased through with a 4-1 win. In the 3pm games, Fulham took on Aston Villa at Craven Cottage – Gary Donely and Paul Barlow backed the Cottagers but go out after a 3-1 defeat. Ipswich were still looking for their 1st win of the season as they welcomed Everton to Portman Road – Jack Horsler had picked Ipswich Town while Gemma Jackson had picked the Toffees, and it’s Gemma who goes through after a 2-0 win for the Blues. Newcastle faced Brighton at St James’ Park – 7 players were hoping the Magpies could overcome the Seagulls but a 1-0 defeat sees them drop out. In the teatime game, Bournemouth welcomed Arsenal to the Vitality stadium – 31 players had picked the Gunners but a surprise 2-0 defeat sees an early exit for them all.
On Sunday, in the early game, Wolves faced Manchester City at Molineux – 31 players were hoping for a City win and it looked like a second LMS upet was on the cards until a last minute winner saw City win 2-1. In the later game, Liverpool took on Chelsea at Anfield – Dave Rogers and Paul Murphy had picked the Reds and they go through after a 2-1 win.
Finally, on Monday night, Nottingham Forest played Crystal Palace at the City Ground – Alex Ramsden, Joel Wilkinson, Marie Robinson, Michael Grierson and Tony Smith had picked Forest and a 1-0 was enough to put them through.

In total, 41 players fell at the first hurdle, leaving 69 players still standing. Deadline for Round 2 is Friday 24th October at noon. A full update can be viewed here.
