Deadline for entries for this new game passed last night. Nothing else has popped up in my inbox. 98 players for game 2, meaning a prize pot of £490. Some new players joining us in this game – welcome aboard! Good luck to everyone!

So, we were down to the last two players – Jackie Milton and Rich Clayton – for Round 10 after we lost five players in Round 9. 

One of the remaining players asked me to ask the other player would they be prepared to split the pot. Both players have now agreed to this, so the game is complete with them both taking an equal share of the £535 pot – £267.50 each. Interestingly, they had both indicated they wanted Brighton in Round 10!

The weekend’s results saw the number of players still standing drop from 7 to 2, which means the pot will now be won. Jackie Milton or Rich Clayton will soon be rewarded with £535 (or split it depending on results).

That now means we can finally start game 2 of the season!

For those that haven’t played before – you need to pick a team that you think will win their game that weekend – they win and you go through to the next round: draw or lose and you are out. Rinse and repeat for subsequent rounds until the last person is standing and takes the prize pot – you can’t pick the same team twice. Full rules can be viewed here, previous games can be viewed in the Hall of Fame. Feel free to share with anyone you think might be interested – more entries = a bigger prize pot!

Entry is £5 and you must send me an email (martin.grierson@gmail.com) by 7pm on Friday 21st October with your selection for Round 1 (I am in Spain at the weekend so I probably won’t get the first update with selections out til the Saturday morning). First four sets of fixtures below, to let you plan ahead (you only need to let me know Round 1 to start with though!). It’s very much likely that this game will be interrupted with the break for the World Cup and will then resume again from Boxing Day. Round 10 is a midweek set of fixtures. Deadline for Round 10 is noon on TUESDAY 18th October. None of the remaining two players can pick Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Newcastle, Tottenham, West Ham or Wolves. 

Now that we are down to the last two players, the pot must be won so I will look to start Game 2 soon. Watch this space!

Getting tougher for the 7 remaining players – but there is a chance for three of them to win the pot this round. West Ham have now joined Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham as unavailable for selection should we progress to Round 10!
