LMS – Game 1 – Round 8 Results

19th-21st October

Web SiteLMS RulesHall of Fame

We were down to the last four players as we resumed this game, after the international beak. Three different teams were picked in this round – nobody could pick Arsenal.

On Saturday, in the lunchtime game, there was a London derby as Tottenham welcomed West Ham to the Tottenham stadium – Abi Donafee and Carl Jackson had picked Spurs and they went through with a 4-1 win. In the 3pm games, Manchester United hosted Brentford at Old Trafford – Adam Dealing was hoping that United could finally win a game and they did, 2-1.
That left Michael Grierson waiting til Sunday to see if he could make it a clean sweep as Wolves faced Manchester City at Molineux and he just about scraped through with a last minute winner.

All four players progress to Round 9!

Deadline for Round 9 is Friday 24th October at noon. Nobody can pick Arsenal, Manchester City or Tottenham. A full update can be viewed here.

Super 6 Knockout Cup – 1st Round

The 1st round of the cup competition took place over the weekend of 19th October.

This was the bottom 16 teams in the league, as at 1st September. The other 24 players received byes to Round 2.

7 of the 8 ties were completed. The tie between Chris Newman and Adam Rawes was a draw – with both players scoring 11 points. They will replay next weekend (26th October).

Results and the updated draw can be viewed here.

LMS – New Game!

Game 1 is now down to just 4 players – which means the prize pot of £600 will be won by one of them (or shared).

This means I am now in a position to kick off Game 2 of this season, which will start with the round of games after the international break – 19th-21st October.

For those that haven’t played before – you need to pick a team that you think will win their game that weekend – they win and you go through: draw or lose and you are out. Rinse and repeat for subsequent rounds until the last person is standing and takes the prize pot – you can’t pick the same team twice. Full rules can be viewed in the links above, as can previous games.

Entry is £5 and you must send me an email (martin.grierson@gmail.com) by 6pm on Friday 18th October with your selection for Round 1. First four sets of fixtures below, to let you plan ahead (you only need to let me know Round 1 to start with though!). If you need the payment details then let me know.

LMS – Game 1 – Round 7 Results

ROUND 7
5th-6th October

Web SiteLMS RulesHall of Fame

7 players were still standing for Round 7. Four different teams had been picked in this last round before the forthcoming international break.

On Saturday, in the 3pm games, Arsenal hosted Southampton at the Emirates – Michael Grierson had picked the Gunners and goes through after a 3-1 win. Manchester City welcomed Fulham to the Etihad – Carl Jackson had picked City and a 3-2 win puts him through. West Ham played Ipswich at the London Stadium – Abi Donafee and Adam Dealing were hoping the Hammers could get back to winning ways with no wins since the opening day of the season and they did, with a 4-1 win.
On Sunday, Chelsea took on Nottingham Forest at Stamford Bridge – Charlie Folksman, Gary Storer and Kevin Murphy were hoping for a win for the Londoners but a 1-1 draw sees them drop out.

That leave just 4 players still standing for Round 8. It also means that any chance of a rollover has now gone and this pot will be won (or shared) by Abi, Adam, Carl or Michael. I will start Game 2 after the international break – will send details in the week.

We now have an international break so deadline for Round 8 will be Friday 19th October at 12pm. A full update can be viewed here.

LMS – Game 1 – Round 4 Results

14th-15th September

Web SiteLMS RulesHall of Fame

41 players were still standing as we resumed action after the international break with Round 4. Six different teams were picked in this round.

On Saturday, in the lunchtime game, Southampton faced Manchester United at St Mary’s – Carl Jackson and Charlie Folksman had picked United and they go through after a 3-0 win. In the 3pm games, Brighton welcomed Ipswich down to the Amex – 20 players had picked the Seagulls but they crach out after a goalless draw. Crystal Palace took on Leicester at Selhurst Park – Becci Morton, Cameron Green, Martin Emmett and Ste Milton had picked the Eagles but exit after a 2-2 draw. Liverpool faced Nottingham Forest at Anfield – 8 players were hoping that the Reds maintained their 100% start to the season but a 1-0 defeat ended that. Manchester City played Brentford at the Etihad – Abi Donafee, Adam Dealing and Matt Saveall were hoping that City had also kept their 100% record and a 2-1 win sees them through. In the tea-time game, Aston Villa took on Everton at Villa Park – Gary Storer, John Roberts, Kevin Murphy and Michael Grierson were hoping that the Toffees remained pointless after this, which they did after losing another 2 goal lead and finishing 3-2.

I’ve added a new feature at the bottom of this mail – you can now see a list of teams still to be picked for each player.

A reminder, I am away on holiday from 16th September – I will be on a cruise so will only have a phone signal at limited times so Rounds 5 & 6 will have earlier than usual deadlines – Thursdays at 12pm and I won’t have time to nudge people for their picks like I normally try and do. You have been warned!!. Deadline for Round 5 is Thursday 19th September at 12pm. A full update can be viewed here.
