Fantasy WC – Round 1

The first round of games has been completed with today’s games. First full league table can viewed here. I have been publishing some daily updates to this site. Anyone who has been checking the site – there has been a small issue in the commentaries with some stats being wrong – eg I reported last night that Courtois was only picked by one player when he is actually in 6 player’s squads. That issue is now resolved – teams had the points, just the way I pick up the number of players was wrong.

A full list of players and how they have scored can be viewed here. Similarly, each of your squads can be viewed here.

Any queries/comments, please shout!!

Next formal update will be after the 2nd round of games has competed on Monday. I will continue to update the site daily, time permitting!

Fantasy WC – Sunday 20th

Just the one game played on this opening day of the tournament. I’ve done a quick update to make sure my system is all working correctly.

QATAR 0-2 ECUADOR

Melvin Pool loses points from Karim Boudiaf’s booking, as do Ewan White and Robin Horsler from Akram Afif and Madison and Rhys from Almoez Ali.

Nobody had the Ecuador keeper, Hernán Galíndez, who kept a clean sheet. It looks like David Owen, Tracey Corrie and Lauren Haigh have picked the wrong keeper with Alexander Domínguez! Allan Jones and Ian O’Brien get a clean sheet from Félix Torres, as do Chris Mowles, Gisela Mowles and Christopher Grierson from Piero Hincapié and another 7 players from Pervis Estupiñán. Martin Grierson and Steve Smith were the only two players to get 13 points from Enner Valencia’s brace (and will be hoping he’s fit for the next game!). 6 players lose points from Moisés Caicedo’s booking.

Three games tomorrow – England v Iran, Senegal v Netherlands and USA v Wales.

Fantasy World Cup – and they’re off!!

The first match is about to kick off.

34 entries have been received, which will mean a prize pot of £340 to be paid out to the top 5. I will confirm prize monies once all payments are in. If you haven’t made it yet then please do so soon. £10 to 12-60-50 03697698 or Paypal payments to martin.grierson@gmail.com

A PDF is attached detailing all teams for transparency. I have also listed all players that were selected (186 different players were picked).

I’ll issue email updates at the end of each round of games (so first one will be when all teams have played their first game). I’ll also add interim updates to this blog – you can add yourself here to get updates if any new blog entries are added.

Good luck to everyone!!

Super 6 League Cup update

Updated this earlier in the week but forgot to add an update!

The 7th round of games took place last weekend – the last one before the World Cup break (DON’T FORGET THAT SUPER 6 ARE RUNNING ROUNDS DURING THE WORLD CUP SO MAKE SURE YOU KEEP ON TOP OF IT FOR YOUR LEAGUE PLACES!).

Results and updated tables can be viewed here. Three rounds of games left to play – 14th & 21st Jan and 4th Feb. I’ll send a reminder in the new year.

GROUP A
Christopher Grierson leads the way by 2 points ahead of Matthew Saveall (they play each other in the next round of games), but Jordan Laite and Shaun McGee are still very much in the running.

GROUP B

Lauren Haigh and Albert Au both lead the group by 6 points – they play each other next, a win for one of them should seal their qualification. Stuart Davies and Nikki Grice can still catch them but would need to win all their games and hope for a collapse from the joint leaders.

GROUP C

Michael Grierson and Lisa Ormesher both lead the group by 6 points. Martin Grierson sits 4 points behind and has a crunch match against Michael next! David Hayhoe can still catch the top 2 – he has a “gimme” against Peter Donnelly next round (as does Lisa the round after which will probably confirm her qualification).

GROUP D

This group only plays 8 games – Ross Milton sits 6 points clear and with 2 games to play looks a certainty to qualify. Richard Gibbons and John Roberts sit on 8 points – Paul Grice is 3 points behind with a game in hand so the 2nd spot looks wide open.

GROUP E

Very tight this group – Paul Murphy and Steve Smith sit on 12 points (although Steve has a game in hand) with Michael Thomas on 11 points. Steve and Paul play in the next round – Michael can take advantage there.

GROUP F

Another tight group – Andrew Carter and Melvin Pool are on 10 points (Andrew has a game in hand). Paul Barlow is on 9 points with Cameron Green on 7 points so it is really wide open here.

GROUP G

Lynsey Harrison and Peter Carroll are level on 12 points – Trevor Faulkner is close behind on 9, and has a game in hand on the other 2. Neil Metcalf is on 6 points – he would need to win his last 3 games and hope for some results in the other games.

GROUP H

Dave Nicholls tops the group with 13 points with Peter Wooldridge 3 points behind on 10 and Graham Healey on 8 – Peter has a game in hand on the other 2.

Fantasy World Cup

35 people responded to the poll I sent yesterday, with almost all expressing they would be happy to pay £10. I have now created an entry form. If you have Excel – please use the Excel version as it will validate your selections and also makes it easier for me to cut and paste into my system. No worries if you don’t, there is a PDF version. I have rushed to get this out but hopefully no errors!!! Keep an eye on my blog – I will update on here if I have to make any changes to the forms!

Feel free to share with anyone you think might be interested – more entries = more prize money! Entry fees to the usual footy account or Paypal (details on the entry form).

Deadline for entries is 3pm on Sunday 20th November, before the first game so I can share a list of entries ahead of the first game kicking off.

Any queries, please let me know!
